The STRIVE Initiative proudly hosted Night at the Races in partnership with the Foundation for Pottstown Education, bringing together community members, educators, donors, and local leaders for an evening dedicated to supporting youth and education in Pottstown. The annual fundraiser, known for its interactive horse-racing format, spirited bidding, and community fellowship, has long played a critical role in advancing educational opportunities for local students.

For STRIVE, the event carried special significance, as the Foundation for Pottstown Education has been instrumental in the organization’s creation and sustained success, providing early support and continued investment in STRIVE’s mission to empower youth through mentorship, creative career pathways, and leadership development.

This year’s event marked a powerful milestone in STRIVE’s commitment to youth leadership and workforce readiness. David Charles, CEO of The STRIVE Initiative, who has hosted three previous Night at the Races events, was joined by STRIVE staff and a recent STRIVE graduate who shadowed him throughout the evening and stepped into the role of host early in the program.

The student confidently led the event, announcing each race, recognizing donors, and awarding winners for every round, demonstrating poise, professionalism, and growth in a real world setting. The moment reflected a guiding lesson that helped shape STRIVE’s vision years ago, when an elder in the African American community advised Charles that meaningful change begins with investing in youth education. That belief continues to guide STRIVE’s work, and Night at the Races served as a living example of how education, opportunity, and community support come together to create lasting impact.
